General description

C1RL (complement component 1, r subcomponent-like) is a serine protease analog. It is composed of 487 amino acids, containing a serine protease domain and a CUB (C1r/C1s, Uegf, Bmp1) domain. The mRNA has a wide range of tissue expression, and is predominant in liver, kidney, placenta, pancreas, and myeloid cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

C1RL (complement component 1, r subcomponent-like) is derived from dendritic cells, and prevents cytotoxicity by complement pathways. It is responsible for the cleavage of prohaptoglobin post its synthesis, in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER).
