Gene Information

human ... PCOLCE2(26577)

Procollagen C-endopeptidase enhancer 2 precursor recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)

Biochem/physiol Actions

PCOLCE2 (Procollagen C-endopeptidase enhancer 2) gene encodes a glycoprotein that is also called as procollagen COOH-terminal proteinase enhancer (PCPE2). It binds the C-terminal propeptide of type I procollagen and facilitates its cleavage by certain proteinases. PCPE2 differs from PCPE1 in its glycosylation nature and its stronger affinity for heparin. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 3.

Features and Benefits

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.

Corresponding Antigen APREST71513.

Cell-lineage-specific transcripts are essential for differentiated tissue function, implicated in hereditary organ failure, and mediate acquired chronic diseases. However, experimental identification of cell-lineage-specific genes in a genome-scale manner is infeasible for most solid human tissues. We developed the first genome-scale...

The procollagen COOH-terminal proteinase enhancer (PCPE) is a glycoprotein that binds the COOH-terminal propeptide of type I procollagen and potentiates its cleavage by procollagen C-proteinases, such as bone morphogenetic protein-1 (BMP-1). Recently, sequencing of a human expressed sequence tag, which...
