General description

Matrix metalloproteinase-21 (MMP-21) is a secreted protein expressed in fetal tissues, adult tissues and cancer cell lines. It is a 57kDa protein. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 10.

Specificity

By immunoblotting against the reduced protein, the antibody identifies bands at 70 kDa and 66 kDa.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to the hinge region of human matrix metalloproteinase-21.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Matrix metalloproteinase-21 (MMP-21) is involved in increasing the invasion capacity and metastasis property of tumors.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline containing 50% glycerol and 0.05% sodium azide.

During intracellular infections, autophagy significantly contributes to the elimination of pathogens, regulation of pro-inflammatory signaling, secretion of immune mediators and in coordinating the adaptive immune system. Intracellular pathogens such as S. Typhimurium have evolved mechanisms to circumvent autophagy. However, the
