Application

Mannan-agarose is used in protein chromatography, affinity chromatography[1] and carbohydrate matrices. Mannan-agarose has been used in studies assessing poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation of mannose-binding lectin out of human kidney cells and to inform mannose-associated serine protease (MASP) activated components of the coagulation system. Mannan-agarose has also been used to study the innate immunity and resistance to Aeromonas salmonicida exhibited by the sea lamprey (Petromyzon marinus), a parasitic cartilaginous fish of the North American Great Lakes and a predator of many bony fish species of commercial importance to the fishing industry. Mannan-Agarose has been used to deplete rabbit anti-mannose-binding lectin (MBL) polyclonal antiserum of anti-mannan antibodies.[2]

Questions

  1. Can you please provide details of the #m9917 mannan-agarose that you supply. E.g. the origin of the mannan immobilized (yeast?) and how it was immobilized (the data in the website referes to CNBr but I wonder how this works with a sugar. Thank you.

    1 answer
    1. The mannan used in the product of this product is from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. As stated in the 'PROPERTIES' section, the matrix attachment is at the hydroxyl group. The minimum binding capacity is 30 mg/mL using Concanavalin A.
