The fluorescent sensor in the MAK164-1KT Intracellular Hydrogen Peroxide Assay is fluorescein-based. The sensor initially exists in the non-fluorescent lactone form, which is then converted into the fluorescent quinoid form upon reaction with hydrogen peroxide. The oxidation of hydrogen peroxide removes the lactone-locking group.
