Description

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cystatin C is an inhibitor of cysteine proteases including cathepsin B (which has been identified as the most important ?-amyloid-degrading enzyme. Measurement of cystatin C in serum is replacing creatinine as an indicator of kidney function (glomerular filtration rate, GFR).

General description

SILu^™Prot CST3 is a recombinant, stable ¹⁵N isotope-labeled human CST3. Expressed in E. coli, it is designed to be used as an internal standard for bioanalysis of CST3 in mass-spectrometry. SILu^™Prot CST3 is a protein of 120 amino acids, with a calculated molecular mass of 13.5 kDa.
