General description

The porcine serum comprises serum amyloid A (SAA), C-reactive protein (CRP), haptoglobin (Hp), and pig major acute phase protein (pig-MAP).

Application

Porcine Serum has been used:
  • in the neutralization of lipofectamine coated adeno-associated viruses (AAVs)
  • for inducing liver fibrosis in rats
  • as a standard negative reference in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
  • as a component of trypticase soy broth with 0.6% yeast extract (TSBYE) for culturing A. actinomycetemcomitans strains

Biochem/physiol Actions

Pig serum acute phase proteins (APP) show elevation with age. It is used for the culture of porcine islet cells.
