Application

Roscovitine has been used:
  • an inhibitor of p34cdc2/cyclin B kinase to preculture porcine oocytes[1]
  • as a supplement in TCM199 medium for in vitro prematuration of cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) of adult goats[2]
  • in astrocyte conditioned media as an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5)[3]
  • as a CDK2 inhibitor in culture media to treat hESCs[4]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Roscovitine is a potent, selective inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases.
Roscovitine is a purine derived inhibitor. It stimulates apoptosis in cancer cells.[5] It has inhibitory action on mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) and M-phase promoting factor (MPF) kinase activity. Roscovitine is known to arrest meiosis and thus, prevent embryonic development.[2]

Questions

  1. In what solvent and at what concentration do I  reconstitute Roscovitine (R7772) ?

    1 answer
    1. As mentioned in the 'PROPERTIES' section, this product can be solubilized in chloroform at 50 mg/mL. In addition, this material is also soluble in DMSO at 5 mg/mL. DMSO stock solutions are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. Please see the link below to review the product datasheet:
