N-Succinyl-Ala-Ala-Ala-p-nitroanilide is a chromogenic substrate for chymotrypsin-like serine protease,[1] pancreatic elastase[2] and serine endopeptidase.[3]

N-Succinyl-Ala-Ala-Ala-p-nitroanilide has been used as a substrate

for screening elastase activity in lyophilized earthworm fibrinolytic enzymes[4]
for quantifying elastase activity in sheep milk[5]
in screening honeybee inhibitors in serine protease inhibition assay[6]
