General description

Unlock the power of protein phosphorylation with SIGMAFAST Phosphatase Inhibitor Tablets (S8840). Designed for researchers and scientists, this broad-spectrum inhibitor cocktail is essential for preserving the integrity of phosphorylated proteins in your cell extracts. Phosphorylation is a critical post-translational modification that regulates enzyme activity and triggers vital cellular signaling pathways.

Key Components:

  • Bromolevamisole oxalate: A potent alkaline phosphatase inhibitor.
  • Cantharidin: Selectively inhibits protein phosphatase 2 (PP2A).
  • Sodium fluoride: An irreversible inhibitor of serine, threonine, and acid phosphatases.
  • Sodium orthovanadate: Targets tyrosine and alkaline phosphatases.
How to Use:

To prepare your phosphatase inhibitor solution, simply dissolve one S8840 tablet in 20 mL of water or cell lysis buffer to generate a 1X solution. For more concentrated applications, reconstitute the tablet in a smaller volume (2 mL) to create a 10X stock solution, which can then be diluted as needed. Please note, concentrations greater than 1X may appear hazy, but this will not affect the performance of the inhibitors. Endogenous proteases are also present during cell lysis which could lead to proteolytic degradation of proteins. Supplementing the lysis buffer with protease inhibitors prevents any proteins of interest from being degraded in this fashion. Sigma Cat#S8830 is a protease inhibitor cocktail that can be used for this purpose.

Application

Ideal for research in cancer biology, cellular signaling, and enzyme activity studies.
