General description

Diallyl trisulfide, a constituent of garlic and onions, is a proapoptotic compound that also posesses antioxidant activity.

Application

Diallyl trisulfide has been used to study its anti-carcinogenic properties in glioma and bladder cancer cells.

Packaging

25, 100 mg in glass bottle

Biochem/physiol Actions

Diallyl trisulfide inactivates Akt to trigger mitochondrial translocation of BAD and caspase-mediated apoptosis in human prostate cancer cells. Diallyl trisulfide-induced apoptosis in human prostate cancer cells involves c-Jun N-terminal kinase and extracellular-signal regulated kinase-mediated phosphorylation of Bcl-2.
