Biochem/physiol Actions

BEC (S-(2-boronoethyl)-l-cysteine) is a potent and specific arginase inhibitor that restores flow-induced responses in arterioles from diabetic rats.
BEC is a boronic analog of L-arginine,[1] and L-cysteine.[2] It competitively inhibits both arginase I and II. BEC does not directly affect nitric oxide synthase.[2]
