Application

2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium chloride has been used to stain heart tissue to measure the extent of acute lesion.[1] It has also been used to stain brain tissue to check the size of infarct area.[2]

General description

2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium chloride is a colorless water-soluble dye. In the mitochondria of living cells, it is reduced to a deep red, water-insoluble compound (formazan). 2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium chloride helps to distinguish between viable and infarcted brain tissue after stroke.[3]

Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury is the major limitation for the cardioprotective action of revascularization after myocardial infarction. Lymphocyte adapter protein (Lnk), an adapter protein, has a regulatory role in multiple signaling pathways by functioning as a scaffold for different substrates.

Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. Hello, I wasn’t able to find the recommended proportion of product to water. Could you let me know what ratio I should use? Also, should I be using distilled water? Thank you!

    1 answer
    1. T8877 is tested for solubility at 50 mg/ml in water. Although no suitability testing is performed, 2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium chloride (Tetrazolium Red) is often used to assess plant viability using a 10 mg/ml solution. Other uses, such as staining brain or heart tissue, have been reported.

  2. Bonjour, après avoir reconstitué la poudre dans de l'eau stérile, combien de temps pouvons-nous conserver la préparation au réfrigérateur ? Merci

    1 answer
    1. The long-term solution stability of this product has not been determined. However, product 17779, a sterile 1% solution, has a shelf life of approximately 3 years. Provided that the solution is filter sterilized and stored properly at 2-8°C, a similar shelf life would be expected. Please see the link below to review this product:
