General description

Manufactured for Sigma by Boston Biochem., Inc.

Application

Ubiquitin-Carrier Protein H5c human may be used to study ubiquitin-proteasome system and its role in pathogenesis of human diseases.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Mediates the degradation of a myriad of short-lived regulatory proteins including the tumor suppressor p53 in the presence of E6/E6-AP or MDM2, the c-Fos transcription factor, and the signal-induced ubiquitination of IκBα, UBC5 is an essential gene in yeast.
Ubiquitin-Carrier Protein H5c human also referred to as UbcH5c is a recombinant protein that interacts with ZIPK and stimulate its ubiquitination and hence facilitates in regulating ZIPK accumulation in promyelocytic leukemia protein nuclear body (PML-NBs).

Zipper-interacting protein kinase (ZIPK) is a widely expressed serine/threonine kinase that has been implicated in cell death and transcriptional regulation, but its mechanism of regulation remains unknown. In our previous study, we showed that leukemia inhibitory factor stimulated threonine-265 phosphorylation...

The last step in the activation of the transcription factor NF-kappaB is signal-induced, ubiquitin- and proteasome-mediated degradation of the inhibitor IkappaBalpha. Although most of the components involved in the activation and degradation pathways have been identified, the ubiquitin carrier proteins...
