General description

Western Blocker Solution is used to block both PVDF and nitrocellulose membranes after proteins have been transferred onto them through dot blotting or Western blotting; blocking is performed to reduce or eliminate nonspecific binding of primary or secondary antibodies.

Application

Western Blocker Solution has been optimized for detection systems using horseradish peroxidase (HRP) conjugates; it is also compatible with alkaline phosphatase based systems.
Western Blocker Solution has been used for blocking of western blot membranes.[1][2][3] It has also been used for dilution of antibodies in western blot.[4]

Features and Benefits

  • Does not inhibit weak HRP signals, as many milk-based blockers do.
  • Can be used both as a blocking component and as a probing component.
  • Supplied ready-to-use; no preparative step is required.

Legal Information

Western Blocker is a trademark of Sigma-Aldrich Co. LLC

Recently, insulin-like growth factor binding protein 6 (IGFBP-6) has been shown to play a putative role in the immune system, as monocyte-derived dendritic cells (Mo-DCs) are stimulated by hyperthermia to express IGFBP-6 at both the mRNA and protein levels. However
