General description

Poloxamer 188 (P188) is a copolymer of polyoxyethylene and polyoxypropylene.{15} P-188 exhibits low toxicity and therefore may be used in oral drug delivery.{14}

Application

A nonionic copolymer surfactant

Poloxamer 188 solution is used in flow cytometry of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells.{13} It was used to supplement the growth medium for MSCs (EMD Millipore SCR108) cultures. 2 bioavailability of the suspension of ketoprofen and P-188 was reported in a study.{14}
