L-Xylulose, ketopentose monosaccharide, is a nonpshosphorylated intermediate in the glucoronic acid pathway. L-Xylulose accumulates in the urine patients with pentosuria and cirrhosis.

L-xylulose is a monosaccharide which contains five carbon atoms, and includes a ketone functional group.
