General description

Human interleukin-8 (IL-8) is an 8.4 kDa protein containing 72 amino acid residues. It promotes neutrophil chemotaxis and degranulation. The 72 amino acid IL-8 is the predominant form secreted by monocytes and lymphocytes.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Human IL-8 produces chemotaxis over a wide concentration range in an assay using human peripheral blood neutrophils. Significant chemotaxis was achieved using a concentration of 10-100 ng/mL.

Storage and Stability

The lyophilized powder, though stable at room temperature, is best stored desiccated below 0°C. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL. This solution can be diluted into other buffered solutions. Reconstituted IL-8 should be stored in undiluted aliquots at -20°C for up to six months.
