Ethylbenzene may be used as a starting material to synthesize:
• Acetophenone via selection oxidation in the presence of potassium dichromate supported on neutral alumina and using air as the oxidizing agent.
• Styrene via dehydrogenation over nanodiamonds in an oxygen-lean environment.
