General description

This proficiency testing sample is produced in accordance with ISO/IEC 17043:2010. All information regarding the use of this material can be found in the reporting packet supplied for each sample.

Preparation Note

This PT sample is as a concentrate for dilution in DI water.
The sample must be stored at room temperature.

Sample Preparation

Partially fill a 1000mL volumetric flask with reagent-grade water.
Open vial PE1282-1.2G and weigh 500mg of solids and quantitatively transfer to the volumetric flask using a glass funnel.
Rinse the flask with reagent-grade water.
Fill the volumetric flask to volume (1000mL) and mix by inverting the flask 10 times.
Let the flask stand for 10 minutes and invert again 10 times.
The sample is now ready for immediate analysis.
“Fixed Solids” refers to the portion of the sample remaining after the ashing process (550ºC). “Volatile Residue” refers to the amount of sample lost during the ashing process (550ºC).

Other Notes

Proficiency testing samples are presented as single blind. No values for the samples are released until the testing period concludes. Values of analytes vary lot to lot.
