Description

General description

Potassium acetate is colorless hygroscopic potassium salt of acetic acid. It can be prepared by the neutralization reaction of acetic acid with potassium hydroxide or potassium carbonate. It is widely employed in electroplating and photographic studies.

Application

Potassium acetate has been used to prepare neutralizing solution for alkaline lysis of bacteria (Escherichia coli K12 TOP10 strain carrying plasmid pEGFP-N1).
