Description

General description

SMARCA2 (BRM) belongs to SWI/SNF family and forms a component of the ATP-dependant chromatin remodelling protein complex. The expression levels of SMARCA2 have been correlated to development of schizophrenia. SMARCA2 mutations have been linked to Nicolaides-Baraitser syndrome (NBS).
Rabbit Anti-SMARCA2 recognizes human, mouse, rat, zebrafish, bovine, chicken, and canine SMARCA2.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the middle region of human SMARCA2

Application

Rabbit Anti-SMARCA2 can be used for western blot applications at a concentration of 0.5 μg/ml. It can also be used for IHC applications at 4-8 μg/ml.

Physical form

Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.

Biochem/physiol Actions

SMARCA2 is a member of the SWI/SNF family of proteins and is highly similar to the brahma protein of Drosophila. Members of this family have helicase and ATPase activities and are thought to regulate transcription of certain genes by altering the chromatin structure around those genes. The encoded protein is part of the large ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling complex SNF/SWI, which is required for transcriptional activation of genes normally repressed by chromatin. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene, which contains a trinucleotide repeat (CAG) length polymorphism.
