Description

General description

Single immunoglobulin and toll-interleukin 1 receptor (TIR) domain (SIGIRR; TIR8) is an orphan receptor of the interleukin-1 Receptor/Toll Like Receptor family. It is ubiquitously expressed in tissues, particularly kidney, digestive tract, liver, lung, and lymphoid organs.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the C terminal region of human SIGIRR

Application

Anti-SIGIRR antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blotting at a concentration of 1.0μg/ml and for immunohistochemistry of tissue sections at a concentration of 5μg/ml.

Physical form

Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Single immunoglobulin and toll-interleukin 1 receptor (TIR) domain (SIGIRR; TIR8) regulates the inflammation in brain by interacting with IL (Interleukin)-36Ra in glial cells. Similarly, SIGIRR is down-regulated in intestinal epithelial cells during inflammation. It acts as the negative regulator of NF-κB (Nuclear factor κ B), JNK (c-Jun N-terminal kinase) and TLR (Toll-like receptor)/IL-1R mediated signaling pathways. IL-37 forms a complex with IL-18Rα and SIGIRR. Together they control the intracellular anti-inflammatory program. Mutations in SIGIRR are associated with necrotizing enterocolitis in premature infants. Single nucleotide polymorphism in SIGIRR is linked to systemic lupus erythematosus.
