Cell Line Origin

Mouse Type-II lung epithelial cell

Cell Line Description

Fully differentiated Type-II alveolar epithelial cell line derived from transgenic H-2Kb-tsA58 mice capable of being passaged as an immortalised cloned cell line in culture. Cells will proliferate at 33 - 35°C in the presence of gamma-interferon, at 39°C in the absence of gamma-interferon cells will terminally differentiate. Supplied as frozen ampoules only.

Culture Medium

DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 4% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS) + 8 additional supplements - please see ′Additional Literature Report′ field below for full details. ECACC can supply an information sheet on the preparation of the supplements on request - contact ECAC

Subculture Routine

Split confluent cultures 1:5 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using trypsin/EDTA;10% CO2; 33°C. Doubling time 48h
