Culture Medium

EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:9 i.e. seeding at 0.5-1x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.05% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C. Doubling time approximately 53 hours.

Cell Line Description

UM-RC-7 is a continuous cell line established from a primary renal adenocarcinoma. It exhibits a loss of contact inhibition and fails to produce tumours in the nude mouse model.
