How is the E-Toxate™ Endotoxin standard, Product E8029, dissolved?
E8029 is reconstituted in endotoxin-free water to a concentration of 4000 EU/mL.  Reconstituted standard solutions can be stored at 2 - 8°C for at least 2 weeks.
How much water should I use to reconstitute my E-Toxate™ Endotoxin standard, Product E8029?
Each batch of endotoxin standard varies slightly in its activity so the amount of water to use may vary from lot to lot.  The certificate of analysis will give the amount of endotoxin units in the vial, so that the end user may calculate the appropriate amount of water to add to the vial in order to reconsitute to a final concentration of 4000 EU/mL.  The certificate of analysis for each lot may be retrieved from our website at:  http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/catalog/search/ProductDetail/SIGMA/E8029.  Enter the lot number in the box under the words "Certificate of Analysis".
What is the E-Toxate™ Endotoxin standard, Product E8029?
The endotoxin standard is purified from a crude extract of lipopolysaccharide from E. coli 055:B5 and standardized against the current USP reference standard.  It is reconstituted with an appropriate amount of water to yield a 4000 EU/mL solution.
