Anti-Fibroblast Growth Factor-Acidic antibody produced in rabbit

IgG fraction of antiserum, lyophilized powder

General description

Fibroblast Growth Factor- acidic (aFGF) is a growth factor that is a potent mitogen of several types of mesoderm-derived cells. It is closely related to the basic FGF (bFGF) but is less potent in inducing proliferation of cells. Both aFGF and bFGF interact and are activated by heparin and promote fibrogenesis and angiogenesis. Expression of aFGF is restricted to brain, retina and hypothalamus. There is a high concentration of aFGF in bone where it plays an important role in the repair of bone fracturesIntracellular aFGF is important for differentiation of myoblasts and regeneration of muscle
Anti-fibroblast growth factor-acidic antibody specifically recognises human and bovine aFGF.

bovine FGF1

Anti-Fibroblast Growth Factor-Acidic may be used in neutralization reactions (ND50 is 0.5-5.0 μg/ml). For immunoblotting, antibody concentration of 1-2 μg/ml may be used. Antibody concentration of 0.5-1 μg/ml may be used for ELISA. This antibody was used at a dilution of 1:200 for neutralization reactions using human tumor cell lines. A dilution of 1:500 was used to detect aFGF in mouse muscle extracts by immunoblotting. The antibody was also used for immunohistochemistry using human salivary gland sections at a working dilution of 1:1000.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline with 5% trehalose.
