Description

General description

Glycine receptors are group I ligand-gated ion channel (LGICs) proteins that belong to the Cys loop receptor family. It has been reported that there are three polypeptide species: GlyR (48kDa) and GlyR (58kDa) subunits and a tightly bound cytosolic scaffolding protein (93kDa) later named gephyrin. It appears to exist as a heteropentameric proteins with an oligomeric transmembrane protein made up of three α and two β subunits. It has been identified that glycine receptors contains four subunit isoforms (α1-α4) and a single β subunit forming GlyR. It helps in mediating synaptic inhibition in the spinal cord, retina and brain of vertebrates.

Specificity

Rat, mouse, and human sequences are identical.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 355-368 of rat glycine receptor α3.

Application

Anti-Glycine Receptor α3 antibody is suitable for western blot at a dilution of 1:200 using rat brain membranes.

Target description

Glycine Receptor α3 encodes the α3 subunit of the neuronal glycine receptor, a ligand-gated chloride channel composed of ligand-binding α and structural β polypeptides.

Physical form

Lyophilized from phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, 1% BSA, and 0.05% sodium azide.
