General description

Chemokines are cytokines that induce migration of leukocytes in response to inflammatory stimuli. The members of the CXC family of chemikones are GRO and Interleukin-8. Within this family, GRO-α is reported to have a specific ELR: glutamate, leucine, arginine motif that is important to attract the neutrophils and stimulate angiogenesis. Multiple functions have been identified for GRO-α. Due to its ability to recruit neutrophils, GRO-α has been found important in the pathology of inflammatory diseases such as atherosclerosis. Smooth muscle cells of the airway produce GRO-α to attract neutrophils in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease that contributes to obstruction of airway. The ability of GRO-α to induce angiogenesis shows that it is involved in the angiogenesis, the associated metastasis and tumorigenesis of pancreatic and gastric cancers
Anti-GRO-α antibody specifically recognizes human GRO-α. It shows 60% cross-reactivity with human GRO-β and less than 30% cross-reactivity with human GRO-γ.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline.

The antibody shows approximately 30% cross-reactivity with recombinant human GROβ, recombinant human GROγ, and recombinant mouse MIP-2. It also approximately shows 20% cross-reactivity with recombinant rat CINC-1 and approximately 10% cross-reactivity with recombinant rat CINC-2α, recombinant rat CINC-2β, recombinant mouse KC, recombinant human IL-8, and recombinant human NAP-2.

Preparation Note

Purified using protein G.

Anti-GRO-α antibody is suitable for indirect ELISA and immunoblotting.
