Cyclic GMP-2′-O-HS-BSA.

100 test in glass bottle

Reconstitute with 1 mL 0.1% BSA in distilled water. Store the reconstituted stock at −20 °C.

The product is specific for cGMP and does not cross-react with 5′-AMP, 5′-ADP, 5′-ATP, cAMP, Guanosine, 5′-GMP, 5′-GDP and 5′-GTP. The antiserum is characterized utilizing the ethanol precipitation radioimmunoassay (RIA) protocol.
Working dilution is at least 1:10 of reconstituted antiserum (1 mL).

Anti-Guanosine 3′,5′-Cyclic Monophosphate (cGMP) antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for the measurement of cGMP using ELISA and western blot analysis and for the immunolocalization of cGMP-containing cells in the preoptic region (PO). The antibody is also suitable for use in an ethanol precipitation radioimmunoassay (RIA) procedure.

Biochem/physiol Actions

cGMP acts as a secondary messenger in regards to hormone action like cAMP. Some cellular functions may be controlled bi-directionally by cGMP and cAMP. They may be stimulated by cGMP and suppressed by cAMP and vice versa. cGMP mediates smooth muscle relaxation.

General description

Cyclic GMP is present in most tissues at concentrations at least 10-fold and occasionally 100-fold lower than those of cAMP. However, a few tissues (brain, testes, and lung) are relatively rich in cGMP and low in cAMP. cGMP levels in plasma and urine are approximately half those of cAMP.
