Description

General description

CNDP1 (carnosine dipeptidase 1) is a secreted protein, which is found in human blood and central nervous system (CNS). It has a molecular weight of 57kDa and functions as a homodimer. It is an N-glycosylated glycoprotein. It is also found in liver and belongs to the M20 metallopeptidase family.

Immunogen

Beta-Ala-His dipeptidase precursor recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)

Application

Anti-CNDP1 antibody produced in rabbit is used for sandwich immunoassay.
Anti-CNDP1 antibody produced in rabbit, a Prestige Antibody, is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org). Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. The antibodies are also tested using immunofluorescence and western blotting. To view these protocols and other useful information about Prestige Antibodies and the HPA, visit sigma.com/prestige.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate-buffered saline, pH 7.2, containing 40% glycerol and 0.02% sodium azide

Biochem/physiol Actions

CNDP1 (carnosine dipeptidase 1) functions as a carboxypeptidase and dipeptidase and is responsible for the degradation of carnosine and homocarnosine. It forms a complex with α-2 macroglobulin, which is a protease inhibitor. In type 2 diabetes, this gene is linked with susceptibility to nephropathy. Its reduced serum levels are linked with aggressiveness of prostate cancer. Reduced levels are also associated with lymph node metastasis. Its circulating levels are also decreased in glioblastoma, and in gastrointestinal cancer this is linked with poor outcome. Thus, it might be a putative maker for aggressive cancer and colorectal cancer.
