General description

Neurturin (NTN) belongs to a novel class of glial-derived neurotrophic factors that have neuroprotective and neuroregenerative effects. NTN promotes the survival of neurons in central and peripheral nervous by signaling via the receptor GFRα2 and a transmembrane tyrosine kinase, Ret. The pathways through which NTN produces effects on parasympathetic neurons are MAPK, PI3K and CREB-mediated signaling. NTN plays a major role in the development and maintenance of postganglionic parasympathetic neurons. The functions of NTN include regulation of spermatogenesis, kidney morphogenesis and control of smooth muscle of penile blood vessels and several intrapelvic organs, especially urogenital organs. Anti-Neurturin recognizes human neurturin.

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 178-193 of human neurturin.

Anti-Neurturin antibody may be used for immunoblotting at a working antibody dilution of 1:500 using whole HeLa cell lysate.
