ACES is a biological buffer often referred to as a “Good’s” buffer. The pKa of ACES is 6.8 which makes ACES a good candidate for a wide array for biological applications. ACES has been used primarily as a buffer in agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis separations as well as isoelectric focusing of proteins. ACES is highly water soluble and provides high-solution clarity.

Specific applications include buffers for cell culture media, protein separations and diagnostic reagent production.
