Description

Application

Tromethamine is a commonly used biological buffer which is also referred to as Tris or Trizma. Tris as a buffer has very broad usage in diagnostics and downstream purifications. The pKa of Tris is 7.77 which corresponds closely to a physiological pH of 7.36.

Tromethamine is used in biopharmaceutical buffer formulations (both upstream and downstream), electrophoresis separations and diagnostic reagent formulations. Tromethamine is especially useful in downstream purification processes.
