NFAM1 (NP_666017.1, 1 a.a. ~ 270 a.a) full-length human protein.

General description

NFAM1 (NFAT activating protein with ITAM motif 1) gene is mapped to human chromosome 22q13.2. The protein contains a signal peptide at the N-terminus, an immunoglobulin domain in the extracellular region and at the cytoplasmic tail a transmembrane domain and an ITAM (immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif). NFAM1 is highly expressed in the B and T cells of the spleen.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4

Biochem/physiol Actions

NFAM1 (NFAT activating protein with ITAM motif 1) is known to activate TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor) promoter, thereby is associated with inflammatory reaction. NFAM1 participates in the process of B cell formation. Upregulation of the gene is observed in Paget’s disease. Studies show that, inhibition of NFAM1 expression, suppresses bone resorption activity by reducing the osteoclast differentiation induced by measles virus nucleocapsid protein.
