Description

General description

Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP) belongs to the family of phathalate ester compounds.

Application

BBP has been used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of BBP in:
• Bottled water by headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) equipped with electron impact (EI) ionization in selected ion monitoring (SIM) mode of detection.

It may be used for the determination of BBP in:
• Polyvinyl chloride toys and childcare articles by GC-EI-MS with SIM detection.
• Water, biosolids and sludge samples by stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) and thermal desorption (TD) combined with GC-EI-MS operating in SIM mode of detection.
• Wine samples by ultrasound vortex-assisted dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (USVADLLME) in conjunction with GC equipped with flame ionization detector (FID) or ion trap MS.
