Epigenetics Overview - A portfolio of products for each step of your Epigenetic research workflow.

Epigenetics is a term coined to describe changes that are not mutation based but can still be passed on from generation to generation. Genes that are activated or repressed without any change in DNA sequence are epigenetically controlled. Epigenetic modifications are stable, but potentially reversib...

WEBINAR: Generation and Use of iPSC-derived Microglia to Study Neurodegenerative Diseases

Microglia play critical roles in brain development, homeostasis, and neurological disorders. Recent genetic studies have shown that polymorphisms in several microglial-enriched genes are associated with altered risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease (AD), the leading cause of age-related dementia. Summary: This gene encodes a large extracellular member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. A similar protein in C. elegans forms long, fine tracks at specific extracellular sites that are involved in many processes such as stabilization of the germline syncytium, anchorage of mechanosensory neurons to the epidermis, and organization of hemidesmosomes in the epidermis. Mutations in this gene may be associated with age-related macular degeneration. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
