Benzoxazine is composed of an oxazine ring, a heterocyclic aromatic six-membered ring with oxygen and nitrogen, attached to a benzene ring. There are several benzoxazine derivatives depending on the position of the oxygen and nitrogen in the ring. Benzoxazine is used in polymers, resins, and cross-linking agents due to its favorable thermal and chemical resistance, electrical properties, and design flexibility. 6-Bromo-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one is used as a building block in the construction of pyrimidinyl substituted benzoxazinones, which are small molecule renin inhibitors. The presence of a halogen allows these reagents to be used as substrates in various coupling reactions, including Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions.
