Rat Intestine

The aim of the study was to visualize the vascular meshwork in the intestinal villi.The specimen was produced by injection of Indian ink into the mesenterial artery. After that a segment of intestine was fixed in formaline. Next, it was dehydrated and embedded into canadian balsam.  In this case the epithelium, loose connective tissue of the proper plate of the mucouse coat and others were transparent/invisible or partially visible. The picture was captured using by Nikon camera (DS camera control unit-DS-L3) in phase contrast microscopy (Leica DMRB).
