Protein of the Month

Protein of the Month, January: Albumin Human Recombinant, Expressed in Rice
Where located: Albumins are monomeric proteins found in the body fluids and tissues of animals and in some plant seeds. Albumin is for example abundant in egg white.
Action: Serum Albumin functions as a carrier protein for steroids, fatty acids, and thyroid hormones. Serum albumins are also vital in regulating the collodial osmotic pressures of blood.
Advantages of recombinant expressed in rice:
  • Eliminates animal-derived additives
  • Safe, regulatory friendly and consistent
Application: Recombinant variant is recommended for use use in absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) pharmacological, cell culture; drug delivery research; and cryopreservation of cells.
