3D Bioreactors

Bioreactors can be described as devices in which biological processes are monitored under the closely controlled environment (temperature, pH, nutrient supply and waste removal). Bioreactors have the main advantage to offer a high degree of reproducibility, control, and automation.
Adaptation of bioreactors to 3D cell culture has been developed for most cases by addition of scaffolds where adherent cells are attached. These tools are ideal for high volume cell production and ex vivo tissue engineering applications. Most of the bioreactors have a media flow system, allowing for circulation of nutrients, removal of wastes, and homogeneity of the environment within the reactor.
