Sigma provides a broad selection of slide mounting media for applications including general histological use, for use with fluorescent-stained tissue sections, or for use with peroxidase or alkaline phosphatase immunohistological tissue sections. Mounting media with propidium iodide (PI) or 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) are also available.
CC/Mount is an aqueous based permanent mounting medium, similar to Crystal Mount™, for the permanent preservation of tissue sections stained with peroxidase and alkaline phosphatase based systems as well as with various fluorescent dyes.
Fluoromount™ Aqueous Mounting Medium has been used for mounting: • coverslips on slides for immunofluorescence microscopic examination of PC12 and Hela cells • hippocampus neurons cells for confocal microscope studies • brain sections for immunofluorescence staining
Fluoroshield™ with 1,4-Diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane is an aqueous mounting medium for preserving fluorescence of tissue and cell smears. Fluoroshield prevents rapid photobleaching of FITC, Texas Red®, AMCA, Alexa Fluor™ 488, Alexa Fluor 594, Cy® dyes, and tetramethylrhodamine. This mounting medium is fortified with 1,4-Diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (a generic version of DABCO™), an anti-fade reagent used to retard photobleaching of fluorescein and other fluorescent dyes.
Fluoroshield™ with DAPI has been used: • as a counterstain in immunocytochemistry to label nuclei of neural progenitor cells • as a histology mounting medium for cardiac tissues sections for immunofluorescence studies • as mounting solution for immunostained heart sections for nuclei detection
Fluoroshield with PI is an aqueous mounting medium for preserving fluorescence of tissue and cell smears. This mounting medium is fortified with propidium iodide (PI) which is a counterstain for DNA. For use in in situ hybridization techniques or other methods where fluorescence of DNA staining is required. PI excites at 535 nm and emits at 615 nm, producing a red fluorescence. RNA is also stained with PI.
Fluoroshield with PPD (p-phenylenediamine; 1,4-phenylenediamine) is an aqueous mounting medium for preserving fluorescence of tissue and cell smears. Fluoroshield prevents rapid photobleaching of FITC, Texas Red®, AMCA, Alexa Fluor® 488, Alexa Fluor 594, and tetramethylrhodamine. This mounting medium is fortified with PPD, an anti-fade reagent used to retard photobleaching of fluorescein and other fluorescent dyes. NOTE: Fluoroshield with PPD is NOT SUITABLE for immunofluorescence techniques involving Cy® dyes, R-phycoerythrin (R-PE), phycocyanin (PC),or allophycocyanin (APC).
Fluoroshield™ has been used: • as a mounting medium for cultured megakaryocytes and immunostained platelets for confocal microscopy studies • as a mounting medium for 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) stained heart sections for immunofluorescence studies • to preserve fluorescence of C6 cell smears
Glycerol Gelatin has been used for mounting endometrial tissue and pancreatic sections for microscopic examination. It has also been used for the immobilization and mounting of helminth eggs for on chip image analysis.
ImmunoHistoMount™ is a permanent aqueous mounting medium designed for tissue sections and cell smears with peroxidase and alkaline phosphatase chromogens that cannot be dehydrated with organic solvents. This mounting medium preserves fast red, aminoethylycarbazole (AEC), BCIP/NBT, and BCIP/INT chromogens and is compatible with counterstains like hematoxylin and nuclear fast red (NFR). ImmunoHistoMount is also suitable for chromogens like DAB and DAB with nickel and cobalt. It is not compatible with routine H & E staining.
We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product has Inherently Safer Chemistry, compared to toluene based mounting mediums. Organo/Limonene Mount™ is a ready-to-use mounting medium is made with limonene, a natural product from orange peels. It is good for coverslipping stained tissues and cell smears that can be dehydrated with organic solvents. This mounting medium is suitable for organic solvent resistant immunohistochemistry (IHC) chromogens as well as an excellent choice for mounting H and E stained slides.
