In 1984, the US EPA promulgated Method 610 for the analysis of Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons. The original method allows for the use of HPLC and GC techniques, but specifically states the GC technique “does not adequately resolve the following four pairs of compounds: anthracene and phenanthrene; chrysene and benzo[a]anthracene; benzo[b]fluoranthene and benzo[k]fluoranthene; and dibenzo[a,h] anthracene and indeno (1,2,3-cd)pyrene”. We recently launched SLB-ILPAH columns that allow for better resolution of the isomer sets originally called out in Method 610. These new columns provide better resolution and are stable up to 350˚C. This webinar will cover the results of comparison studies of the new columns with more conventional columns as well as the chemistry behind them.
