Protein molecular weight markers, sometimes identified as protein standards or protein ladders, are used to estimate the molecular weight of proteins of interest, to monitor the progress of electrophoretic separation or transfer, and as a positive control for analysis conditions. The marker provides a set of references optimized for consistent migration that can easily be compared to experimental gel run results. Prestained markers allow easy tracking of separation and transfer. Unstained markers provide more precise determination of molecular weight.

 Prestained Protein Markers

mPAGE™ Color Protein Standard

mPAGE™ Color Protein Standard is a mixture of ten recombinant prestained proteins from 10 kDa to 203 kDa, covalently coupled with different chromophores. It is designed for observing protein separation during SDS-PAGE, verifying membrane transfer efficiency, and approximating the molecular weight of proteins.

mPAGE™ Unstained Protein Standard

mPAGE™ Unstained Protein Standard is a mixture of twelve recombinant unstained proteins ranging from 10 kDa to 200 kDa. The 85kDa, 25kDa, and 10kDa bands have higher intensity to serve as reference points. mPAGE™ Unstained Protein Standard is suitable for molecular weight determination after SDS-PAGE or Western blotting and serves as a standard to calibrate the mobility of prestained markers.

mPAGE™ Western Blotting Protein Standard

mPAGE™ Western Protein Standard consists of seven recombinant proteins at 20 kDa, 30 kDa, 40 kDa, 50 kDa, 60 kDa, 80 kDa and 120 kDa with an IgG binding site that binds to most antibodies. This enables visualization of both the protein marker and sample proteins on the same western blot without additional reagents.

SigmaMarkers™

SigmaMarkers™ encompass the range of molecular weights common to most proteins and their subunits. Lyophilized with sample buffer, the wide, high, and low range markers are ready for use following reconstitution with water. Ultra-Low Range Marker

The ultra-low range marker is suitable for use in a Tricine SDS-PAGE system.

Ultra Low Range Marker run on a 10-20% Tris-Tricine SDS-PAGE gel 5 µl of a 1:20 dilution of the Ultra-low Range Molecular Weight Marker (M3546) was run on a 10-20% Tris-Tricine SDS-PAGE gel, fixed with 5% gluteraldehyde and stained with EZBlue (G1041).
