Amine Monomers

Amines are used to make polyamide and polyimide composite coatings with outstanding temperature and environmental properties. Primary amines are used to make polyamides, polyimides, and polyureas. Secondary amines are used to make N-substituted polyamides and can also react with acrylic monomers via a Michael addition to give imine containing polymers. Tertiary amines react with dihalide monomers to give ionenes, polyquaternary polymers with high charge densities. These monomers are also used to cross-link polymers, giving insoluble network polymers with cationic centers.
