Biochem/physiol Actions
Alkaloid isolated from leaves of Glycosmis bilocularis that exhibits strong anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral activities.
Arborinine is a quinoline alkaloid isolated from leaves of Glycosmis bilocularis that exhibits strong anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral activities. Arborinine is a broad-spectrum antiproliferative agent, which potently inhibits proliferation of numerous cancer cell lines including NCI-N87 (IC50 = 5.67 μM), BGC-823 (IC50 = 7.26 μM), MGC803 (IC50 = 4.75 μM) and more. It potently inhibits SKOV3 ovarian carcinoma cell proliferation and tumor growth. It also reduces migration and invasion of SKOV3 cancer cells. Arborinine reduces expression of histone demethylase LSD1, which leads to accumulation of H3K4m1.
