Measuring range:
0.02 – 5.00 mg/l Ni (Cat. No. 114785) or 0.10 – 6.00 mg/l Ni (Cat. No. 114554)

Sample preparation:
Carbonated water has to be degassed prior to the photometric analysis. For this, for example 100 ml of the water sample are placed in a glass beaker. Now, it either can be stirred on the magnetic stirrer or nitrogen can be led through the sample. In both procedures, the duration of the treatment depends on the volume of the sample and its carbon dioxide content. A duration of at least 15 minutes is recommended. Alternatively, the sample may be boiled up for a short period of time and after the cooling, the possibly accruing precipitate can be filtered via a fluted filter.

In water containing large amounts of hardening constituents, after the addition of all reagents of the test sets, a turbidity occurs. This can be dissolved with the addition of about 20 mg tri-sodium citrate dihydrate without disturbing the detection of nickel. The masking reagent is added after the addition of the reagent Ni-2 (Cat. No. 114785) respectively of Ni-1K (Cat. No. 114554) and dissolved by shaking. Subsequently proceed as described in the package insert.

The determination takes place with the above-mentioned test kits against a reagent blank.
