Spectroquant® Prove Analytical Method: Vanadium in water

Intstruments and Reagents:

Spectroquant® VIS Spectrophotometer Prove 100 (Cat. No. 173016) or Spectroquant® UV/VIS Spectrophotometer Prove 300 (Cat. No. 173017) or Spectroquant® UV/VIS Spectrophotometer Prove 600 (Cat. No. 173018)
Potassium chloride for analysis (Cat. No. 104936)
Hydrochloric acid 1 mol/L (Cat. No. 109057)
Ethanol for analysis (Cat. No. 100983)
Water for analysis (Cat. No. 116754)

2-Thiophen-carboxylic hydrazide (Cat. No. T1388)
Membrane filter 0.45 μm pore diameter
Reagent 1:
Dissolve 6 g 2-thiophen-carboxylic hydrazide in 40 mL ethanol.
Reagent 2:
Place 12.5 mL potassium chloride solution, 0.2 mol/L and 3.25 mL hydrochloric acid, 0.2 mol/L in a 50-mL volumetric flask and make up to the mark with water.
Measurement range:
0.50 - 5.00 mg/L V at cell length 10 mm and 405 nm
Sample preparation:
The sample solution must be clear; if not, filter through a folded filter or membrane filter with 0.45 μm pore diameter.

Mix 10.0 mL of sample, 0.25 mL reagent 1, 0.30 mL reagent 2 in a test tube. Measure against water at 405 nm.
