NIOSH 7906

PARTICULATE FLUORIDES and HYDROFLUORIC ACID by Ion Chromatography

This method is the replacement method NIOSH 7903 and allows for the collection of the inhalable fraction of particulate fluorides. Improvements with this method allows lower limits of detection and quantitation for gaseous HF due to higher sampling flow rates. A 37 mm sampler is used for collection, and a PTFE syringe filter fitted to a 10cc syringe (recommended over 5cc syringe) is used in the preparation as well prior to Ion chromatography.

Analysis Type (Application Method): Ion Chromatography

Compatible Filters:

PRE-FILTER, cellulose nitrate, 0.8 μm pore size, 37-mm diameter, 0.8 μm pore size, 37-mm diameter, separated by a chemically inert spacer. An tighter pore size of 0.45 μm PTFE syringe filters are also used in this method instead of the 0.8 μm pore size. Forceps to handle filter membrane.
