Crotonaldehyde

A sample is collected by drawing air through an open face air Monitoring cassette containing two glass fiber filters, each of which is coated with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine and phosphoric acid. The sample is extracted with acetonitrile and analyzed by HPLC using a UV detector. As an unsaturated aldehyde, crotonaldehyde is a versatile intermediate in organic synthesis. It occurs in a variety of foodstuffs (soybean oils).

Analysis Type (Application Method): HPLC-UV
